A Royal Affair
Starring: Alicia Vikander and Mads Mikkelsen
Original release: 2012
Synopsis: A young unhappily married queen falls in love with a physician.
Really you can't blame her. Her husband was doofus and Mads is entirely swoon worthy. The two of them should have fled Denmark and set up house in Canada or American and lived happily ever after.
Instead we have a sad tragic affair slowly unfold in all its lush colours and passionate looks.
Farewell My Queen
Starring: Diane Kruger
Original release: 2012
Synopsis:The last days of Marie Antoinette, Queen of France, just before revolution broke out as seen through the eyes of her maid.
Dim corridors and whispered conversations as a maid observes momentous events unfolding around her due mostly to silly rich people doing silly things which makes it even more tragic is that it was really did happen.
Marie Antoinette
Starring: Kirsten DunstOriginal release: 2006
Synopsis: From her marriage to her fall.
Being a Queen kind of sucked, no freedom, having to wait in the buff for people to dress you, you couldn't even pick your own friends or having a romp in the hay with a swoon worthy guy.
Love the dresses though.
Starring: Keira Knightly and Ralph Fiennes
Original release: 2008
Synopsis: The Duchess of Devonshire
It's bad enough when the men betray you but when it's a woman and a friend well it's pretty shitty all round.
No wonder they drank, gambled and spent money to excess.
Personally I would have left the pair of them and taken off to America and stolen the jewellery and silver to fund a new life.
Starring: English people
Original release: 2013
Synopsis: A woman caught between two worlds
More beautiful dresses and society people being society people
The Abduction Club
Starring: The guy from The Americans
Original release: 2002
Synopsis: A group of Irish noblemen kidnap wealthy Irish girls to marry them for their fortune.
This movie is so much fun. Kidnappings, feisty women, dashing men and sword fights.
Loved it.
