The Viewing Files: Rewatch Time - Round 1

I know.  You're probably thinking how on Earth could I possibly watch any more movies after nearly driving you all... and myself... insane doing 365 Movies in 365 Days.  What can I say except I'm a sucker for punishment.

Really though it's more to do with my latest addiction Letterboxd and my need to keep everything tidy which means doing at least some kind of review (or in my case comment) about every movie I have ever watched.  Which then leads into doing a rewatch of most of said movies because really who can remember half of what they have watched let alone every movie.  Not me that's for sure.

Now I'll be honest, I'll probably do just a flick through with some movies pausing here and there to remind myself how good or bad it was.  Mostly because... well I can... and also it'll probably make things a damn sight easier and faster and also because no one really wants to watch a 1000 plus movies all over again.

Let the viewing... and reviewing commence.

Superman
Starring: Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder and Gene Hackman
Original release: 1978
Synopsis:
It's a bird, it's a plane... no it's Superman.

Just bad. Lois seems to spend the movie mostly screaming or acting like a silly love struck fool, Luthor is just an idiot, the storyline is pretty crap and even Christopher can't save this film.
Superman II
Starring: Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder and Gene Hackman
Original release: 1980
Synopsis:
Basically the same as above but with better villains.

Slightly better than the 1st one due to having better villains and toning the comedy down a little but Lois and Luther are unfortunately still the major weak links.
Star Wars
Starring: Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford
Original release: 1977
Synopsis:
Let 'The Force' be with you.

I was amazed by this as a kid now sadly it's more like I don't love it but I don't hate it either kind of feel.. Pluses for Han and Chewie minuses for Luke who really was just a whiny brat and Leia who was just plain bossy.

The Empire Strikes Back
Starring: They're back
Original release: 1980
Synopsis:
The worst father every.

Saved once again by Han and Chewie with the droids as backup, this is slightly better than the 1st one. On a side note the whole Han/Leia romance seriously did not work for me. Zero chemistry, zero believablity that she even remotely had any feelings for him other than mild tolerance. And eww she kissed her brother.
Return of the Jedi
Starring: You should know them by now
Original release: 1980
Synopsis: Never trust anything cute... it might want to eat you.

OMG the cute little Ewoks were going to eat Han and Co. Like the Ewoks saw humans as food? I so did not remember that.  WHY on Earth did I not remember that???  Because seriously, it's quite an important plot point.  I so must have blocked it out due to the trauma of it all.

Other than the final Luke/Vadar/Emperor fight scene the rest is pretty cheesey and sentimental.

Book Talk: I've Been Reading...

So much rain.  Like seriously.  I'm starting to feel that I am in the Great Flood and Noah's about to cry out last call.  That kind of rain.  Which I have to tell you I am totally over by the way. Still it does mean more reading for me.  Not that I need an excuse. Especially when I'm so behind in doing these posts.

Chick features once again because you just know how I love to read something sappy and romantic when the weather is... well... basically crap.
Then it was a major tackle of some crime series especially Angela Marsons Kim Stone Detective series which I love but had gotten very much behind on.  Reading one after the after was so good.  I can highly recommend that all series should be read this way if at all possible.
Rob Ashman is a new author to me but another one that I am enjoying so catching up with his latest two books was a definite must.  Even more so now that I've discovered that there's a 4th one which I need to add to my TBR pile.
After all that crime it was then nice to finish with another light and fluffy read and dreams of summer...

Augusts Plans and Julys Outcomes

Urgh.  August.

If I thought July was wet August is definitely going to show me what rain really is.  Definitely not the kind of weather for making plans and doing things.  Which on the plus side it means I can do a lot of reading and movie watching and not feel even remotely guilty about it.  So that's a win right there.

Maybe I can just forgo all the plans for this month.

No?

Okay then.  Plans it is.

Crafting

Does looking at it and taking it out of its hiding place count?   Probably not which means that this definitely has to stay on the plans list.  I've even moved to the top of the page just to show how serious I am.
Gardening

This is going so super well that I really don't need to do that much this month.  All the garden beds have been weeded, the compost laid out and I've even got some cuttings in pots which will *cross fingers* shoot out some roots for me so that I can plant them in the garden.  So tasks for this month is basically just turning over the compost.  Now that's my kind of gardening.
Get Fit and Healthy

Another plan that is so far going well.  The new sneakers have been taken out and finally gone on a few morning walks... in between the rain of course and I've been mostly eating healthy.  Or at the very least attempting to.

Now if I could just give up chocolate...
Being Frugal

Kind of way of life for us on the whole but as always I'm always on the look out for ways we can cut our costs even more so that we have more money to spend on the things that we really want such as travel, etc.

As part of this I've started taking cuttings from some of my existing plants in the hopes I can grow some new ones from them.  I'm really hoping this works as it will save me heaps on buying plants for our rather barren and empty looking garden.
Learning a Language

Konnichiwa.

Ta da.  I'm learning Japanese.  I know, right?  So cool and totally unexpected but as my local library is offering free classes I decided to give it a go.

It's mostly spoken Japanese as learning to read and write it is apparently really hard.  Though I did learn how to write my name in Japanese which was kind of neat.

Watch this space to see how the rest of the lessons go.
Reading

I probably don't really need this on the plans list as it's always a thing.  But since reading is kind of what I love and do it's going to stay here. And with all this wet and wild weather coming I'm more than likely going to be doing plenty of it.  All with a hot cuppa on hand.

Can I just sigh now.
